Dr. Sharard Walker
Education Visionary and Change Agent
Dr. Walker’s mission for education started very early. While attending Miramar High School, he immersed himself in clubs, leadership, and accelerating academically. While being a first-generation college attendee, he started his career at Miramar High. No, literally while attending college he worked as a teacher’s aide at his high school alma mater.
For over fifteen years he has served in higher education, K-12 education, DJJ and professional management field as a Vice President Strategy,Growth and Development, Division Director of Training and Education, Director of Teacher Education, Director of Continuing Education, Director of Workforce Development, Director of Academics, Curriculum and Instruction, Executive Director, Executive Principal, Principal, Assistant Principal, Dean, Career Coach, Counselor and Teacher.
Notable accolades
- Assisted in designing curriculum courses for Minor Education degree for all degree programs, at FMU.
- Assisted in producing Miami-Dade’s 2019 and 2020 rookie teachers of the year, at FMU.
- Assisted brokering MOU’s for recruitment and field experience with 4th, 6th and 10th largest school districts in the nation for Executives, teachers, and leaders for the School of Education at FMU.
- Implemented Workforce Development program with Lenor Homes and Miami Dolphins to create Industry Regoinzed Credintals for free for the community in construction trades, at FMU
- Opened the OIC Workforce Development Academy via the FLDOE Commission of Independent Education
- Palm Beach Preparatory Charter Academy Cogina School of Distinction Award 2022 (Chossen out of the 32,000 schools nationally )
- School Improvement Rating increased to Commendable rating SY 2022
- Earned a 10-year contract renewal, by charter authorizer
- Implemented Career and Technical Education programs i.e. Barbering and CNA nursing programs at Palm Beach Preparatory Academy it all started with “Get Fresh Fridays”
- Increased PBPCA Enrollment by 37% over one year
- Increased PBPCA’s graduation rate by 43% in one year
- Brokered PBPCA’s MOU with Palm Beach State college for 180 students to attend their 12 grade year on the college campus
His experiences have allowed him to collaborate with diverse groups and educators to improve student achievement and well-being. Dr. Walker continues to live out his mission to motivate and encourage all people to strive for excellence and believe in themselves through education and development. His mission is to impact all students to reach their full potential by implementing education, respect, and imposing self-determination to reach goals and expand their horizons of the real world by becoming lifelong learners.
Dr. Walker has created a positive impact on organizations and communities by increasing learning gains and student achievement in K-12 and post secondary.
Currently, Dr. Walker’s is leading NorthStar Academies as Vice President Strategy and under his leadership PBPCA is on track to exceed previous year gradation by 5 additional percent for SY 23 for a total of 60% gradation rate. Moreover, after recent assessment window for an alternative charter school PBPCA has 19 students with level fours on their reading assessment.
Dr. Walker leads a dedicated faculty and staff that advocates for students and vision of new approaches to learning. He is supported by God, wife, two daughters and mother.
